Discover Hong Kong Dim Sum House

When you think of the perfect place to enjoy authentic dim sum, look no further than Hong Kong Dim Sum House located at 827 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776. This hidden gem offers a delightful experience for those who love fresh, flavorful dim sum. Whether you're a seasoned dim sum enthusiast or a first-timer, this spot will definitely exceed your expectations.

Walking into Hong Kong Dim Sum House, you’re immediately struck by the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where the scent of steamed buns and fried dumplings fills the air, teasing your taste buds before you even sit down. The restaurant’s design strikes the perfect balance between casual and traditional, with red lanterns hanging overhead and classic Chinese art adorning the walls. It’s clear from the moment you step in that this place takes pride in its authenticity.

The menu is an absolute treasure trove of dim sum delights. Whether you’re craving something sweet, savory, or crispy, there’s an option for everyone. A standout on the menu is the shrimp dumplings, or "har gow" - delicate yet flavorful, they’re steamed to perfection, with just the right amount of bite. The shrimp is fresh, juicy, and expertly seasoned, ensuring each bite is a taste of Hong Kong’s culinary best.

Another must-try is their pork buns, or "cha siu bao." These fluffy, soft buns are filled with a perfectly balanced sweet and savory pork filling. The outer layer is pillowy and slightly crispy on the bottom, offering the ideal contrast to the rich filling. The pork has just the right amount of sweetness and tenderness, making it one of the most popular items on the menu.

If you’re more of a fan of fried dim sum, the crispy spring rolls here are unbeatable. The golden, crunchy exterior gives way to a satisfying mix of savory vegetables and meat, all perfectly seasoned. Each roll is served with a tangy dipping sauce that takes the flavor to the next level. It’s the kind of dish that keeps you coming back for more.

The variety at Hong Kong Dim Sum House extends beyond the classics. For instance, their steamed beef balls are tender and infused with just the right blend of seasonings. They’re not overly greasy but maintain a juicy, flavorful interior that pairs beautifully with a splash of soy sauce or hot chili oil. Similarly, the steamed dumplings with chives and pork are packed with flavor, offering a satisfying combination of savory and herbal notes in each bite.

While the food is undeniably the star, the service at Hong Kong Dim Sum House truly enhances the experience. The staff is friendly and efficient, always ready to offer recommendations or clarify menu items. Even during busy hours, they manage to provide quick service, which is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction.

The best part? Hong Kong Dim Sum House offers a variety of dim sum dishes in both traditional cart-style service and à la carte options. If you love the experience of selecting your dim sum from rolling carts, you’re in for a treat. However, if you prefer to order from the menu, you can do so with ease. Both options give diners a chance to enjoy fresh dishes at their peak, without any compromise on flavor.

For those who like to keep it light, there are plenty of vegetable-based dim sum options to choose from. The vegetarian dumplings, stuffed with a mixture of mushrooms, cabbage, and carrots, are a flavorful option for those seeking a meatless bite. These dumplings showcase the versatility of dim sum, as they offer a satisfying bite without relying on meat.

Located in San Gabriel, Hong Kong Dim Sum House is a fantastic spot for any occasion. Whether you're gathering with friends, enjoying a family meal, or on a casual solo outing, this place will hit the spot. The convenient location makes it easily accessible, and the quality of food keeps guests coming back time and time again.

In a town known for its diverse culinary landscape, Hong Kong Dim Sum House stands out as a true gem. The dedication to quality and authenticity shines through in every dish they serve, making it a must-visit for anyone in search of an exceptional dim sum experience. With its perfect balance of flavors, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance, this restaurant is a standout in the heart of San Gabriel.

  • Hong Kong Dim Sum House — Fast, Fresh, and Flavorful! Hong Kong Dim Sum House is like the fast-food version of a traditional dim sum restaurant — quick, convenient, and tasty. You won’t find ladies pushing carts around calling out dish names here. Instead, you order at the counter and get your dim sum freshly prepared. They also have another location in South El Monte. The dining area at this Alhambra / San Gabriel borderline spot is quite small — about 5–6 tables total — making it ideal for grab-and-go meals or a quick dine-in lunch. Whether you’re taking your order home, back to work, or eating on the spot, the food here will hit the spot every time. Location: Hong Kong Dim Sum House is located inside Las Tunas Plaza on the northwest corner of Main Street (turning into Las Tunas Dr) and Mission Drive. The plaza features well-known restaurants like Labobatory, Bopomofo Café, Golden Deli, and 7-Eleven. Across the street, you’ll find Bubble Republic, and on the other side, Tea Muru sits in another plaza. You can even spot the restaurant easily from the Bridge St entrance. Parking: There’s a medium-sized shared parking lot for plaza tenants, but it can get busy during lunchtime. Street parking is also available if the lot fills up. Food & Service: The staff here are super friendly — the auntie who helped me was kind and very social. They offer a wide variety of dim sum, along with rice and noodle dishes. My order of three items came out in under 4 minutes, hot and fresh. Many small dim sum spots tend to serve food that’s just warm, but here everything was piping hot — a great sign of freshness and quality. The flavors were authentic and on par with the big dim sum restaurants that use carts. ⭐ Overall: Highly recommended if you want quality dim sum without the traditional cart experience. My rating is based on food quality, flavor, and service comparing to other dim sum restaurants — all solid across the board.

  • Atmosphere was super fun. A co owner sat down and talked with all his customers. A warm cozy environment. Food was 10/10. Brough my mom, sister, and father who all ate until we were full. The pricing is extremely reasonable and do not underestimate the proportions

  • Hands down one of the best dim sum restaurants I’ve ever been to. Just took out an order for our road trip and we were blown away. Everything is incredibly fresh and beautifully made. Flavors are so vibrant and delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough!! The steamed shrimp dumplings, shrimp shumai, and egg tarts were our favorites!

  • It may be small but it's certainly mighty when it comes to Dim Sum. We travel alot and try Dim Sum whenever we can. This place is the real deal and I will be hard pressed to eat elsewhere, when we visit the LA area again. The sweet options are not your usual basics, instead sweet custard egg delights, coconut yeast buns and pineapple custard to finish off your meal. The portions are generous and right on when it comes to taste. The owner is such a sweetheart and was so attentive during our whole meal, despite brisk walk in business. Kudos to the Dim Sum chef for his creativity. It was so good we had to grab an order for the road. What a neighborhood gem.

  • We ordered: • Chicken Feet • Shrimp Sui Mai • Turnip Cake • Shrimp Rice Roll • Chiu Chow Dumpling • Fried Sugar Cane Shrimp • Fried Chicken Dumpling • Steamed BBQ Pork Bun • Egg Yolk Bun • Pineapple Bun Came here for a quick weekday breakfast with a girlfriend. They’re tucked away in a small plaza (same one as Golden Deli, 7-11 & Bopomofo), just one or two doors down from the pho spot in the corner. There’s a parking lot that can get full, but street parking is also available. Inside, there are about 4–5 small tables. We came on a weekday morning and were seated right away. You get a marker and menu to mark off what you want; it’s à la carte style, with each dish around $5–7 for about 3–4 pieces. Everything was delicious! I do have my top favorites (). I love the mom & pop shop vibes that feel cozy and casual. It’s perfect for a quick bite with some hot tea (which they happily refill). Every dish looked fresh and homemade, and you can really taste it. The dumpling wrappers had a nice chewy texture and didn’t fall apart or feel too thick: just right. My top favorite was the Turnip Cake, it’s simple but perfectly crispy on the edges & the Pineapple Bun they are baked just right and sweet custard filling w/ a nice delicious flakey crust. Honestly, I’d come here over the big dim sum restaurants any day, though the space is small so it’s better for pairs or small groups. Great spot for casual dim sum lovers looking for quality, freshness, and heart in every bit.

  • I’ve tasted dim sum in many cities (Vancouver, LA, NY, SF, Houston, Singapore, Hong Kong) and I can honestly say this quaint place tops my list for key dishes. Authentic taste, fast, and good portion size! You can taste the quality at the first bite. I plan to make it a regular stop whenever I visit LA. Wish it was closer to AZ!

  • Very small HK style restaurant with seating capacity for 18 people. Not your typical dim sum parlor with roving carts. Modest selection and food was respectable for such a family owned business. No restrooms but they will provide a coin for access to one in the 24 hour laundromat next door.
